Ilha Grande
We met up with our tour group before our last night in Rio and took the ferry to the “Big Island,” Ilha Grande. As witer would warrant, especially in the tropics, our few days in Ilha Grande were filled with gloomy clouds and rain. However, Kim and I love everyone in our tour group, and are glad to have a small community!
Our first day in Ilha Grande, Kim and I hiked up past the ancient prison and aqueduct ruins, and continued to hike up a fairly steep mountain to this waterfall with John and Claire—a couple from Britain. Two dogs (whom Kim named Charlie and Goldie) lead us all the way up to the waterfall in back! The next dreary days were mainly spent in the Word and reading a book Arden gave me called The Pursuit of God, which is a compilation of A.W. Tozer’s works. The Lord has really been challenging me to live a life possessing nothing and finding my everything through trusting him.
Today, we arrived in Paraty, which is right of the coast of Brazil. It is a quaint town, with beautiful architecture and cobblestone streets everywhere. Here, I am especially grateful that Megan is letting me borrow her backpack because the ground is so uneven :)
Hopefully tomorrow will clear up and we can explore other islands in this area!
Love you all. Miss you tons!
